INSPIRED : BY US is a collection of 16 1/1 artworks that is an open conversation about being invited vs inspired through new media practice. Pulling from the visual world of 90s anime, R&B, and the house music born in the communities of New York and Chicago, the collection traces a single truth: Black culture has shaped movement after movement throughout history, from the Diaspora to our roots in Africa. Over the years, we have evolved through sound, style, technology, and language. However, in the rooms that matter most, that influence still goes uncredited. When it is let in, it so often arrives at a cost.

These are figures that resist definition, built through an experimental process of 3D, TouchDesigner, Photoshop, and pixel dithering. This is a collection about the freedom to be more than one thing, and the refusal to be less. It is a tribute to the culture that shaped me, and to all of us who are constantly becoming more.
